Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a physical reset that releases from the deepest tissues in the human body, coaxing the muscles to release and relax, unfurling the knots of stress and inviting a more healthy state of being. Gentle rolling moves send signals deep within the tissues and up to the brain, to allow the physical body to release the deep tension that is carried within the body when we are feeling stressed.

The release typically felt after a Bowen session is often surprising as it affects all aspects of the being: physical/emotional/spiritual. Bowen Therapy can be applied when there is an issue with your physical body alone, or as a regular therapy to maintain optimal state of wellbeing.

Bowen therapy involves gentle rolling movements over specific muscles, tendons, and ligaments, triggering a neurological response that affects the muscles and joints to reset dysfunctional patterns, promoting a deep state of relaxation. The release is from deep within the fascia, the deep connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and other structures in the body.

By stimulating the fascia, the aim is to release tension and restore proper tissue mobility, improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and enhancing overall tissue health. This neurological shift brings the physical body out of the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state, into a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state, that has positive flow on effects that can have numerous positive effects on the body, including pain reduction and improved healing.

This non-talking, whole-body approach takes into account the interconnectedness of the body systems and treats the body as a complete organism. Rather than solely focusing on the site of pain or discomfort, the technique aims to restore balance and address underlying issues that may contribute to the presenting symptoms.

Although you may only need one treatment for your complaint, Bowen often involves 3 treatments: day 1, day 6-10, day 16-24. The reason for this is that the body can fall back into an old pattern and the Bowen needs to be repeated in order to convince the body of the new, more healthy alignment.

For young people, Bowen can bring about improved sports performance; improved immune response; less reactivity; improved sleep; improved digestion.

The cost for Adults is $70, for ages 12-18 is $40 and for ages under 12 is $30 each. Availability is on Wednesdays at Luna Wellness Collective, Yandina.

Contact if you would like a home Bowen service for four or more bodies (a surcharge may apply but it would be minimal).
