The Real Reason You’re Stuck in Life (And How to Shift It Fast)

You’re not stuck because life is hard.
You’re not stuck because of your past.
And you’re definitely not stuck because the universe forgot about you.
You’re stuck because…you keep reacting to the same story.
I know. Bit of a gut punch, isn’t it?
But stay with me—because this is actually very good news.
The Pattern You Can’t See (But Keeps Running the Show)
Here’s what I’ve noticed—both in my own life (oh yes, I’ve had my fair share of “why is this happening again?” moments) and in my clients:
We don’t get stuck in situations. We get stuck in our response to them.
Same type of partner.
Same money stress.
Same self-doubt.
Different day, different outfit… same emotional reaction.
It’s like your nervous system has a favourite old playlist, and it just keeps hitting repeat. And until you change the song—not the scenery—you’ll keep dancing the same steps.
The Shift That Changes Everything: Observer vs Reactor
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Most people live life as the reactor. Something happens → you feel it → you respond instantly.
No space. No pause. No choice.
But there’s another way to live. A far more powerful way. You become the observer.
Instead of: “Why is this happening to me?!”
You shift to: “Oh… that’s interesting. Look how I’m reacting to this.”
It sounds small. It’s not.
This is the moment you step out of the emotional whirlpool and sit on the edge with your feet in the water instead. Still aware. Still feeling. But no longer drowning.
What This Looks Like in Real Life
Your partner says something off → instead of snapping back, you notice the heat rise in your chest
Money stress hits → instead of spiralling, you observe the fear tightening your belly
Someone ignores you → instead of shrinking, you watch the old story of “I’m not important” try to play out
You don’t suppress it. You don’t fix it. You just see it. And weirdly… that’s where the shift begins.
Why You’re Actually Stuck (Let’s Get Honest Here)
You’re stuck because one of these is running the show:
You’re avoiding a decision
You’re addicted to certainty
You’re scared of being seen
You’re holding onto an identity that no longer fits
You’re waiting for permission (from… who exactly?)
You’re reacting from an old emotional wound
And here’s the kicker: Your body already knows the truth. Your mind just keeps talking over it.
Quiz: Why Am I Stuck?
Grab a cuppa and be honest with yourself—no one’s marking this.
1. When I think about making a change, I feel:
A. Overwhelmed and freeze
B. Excited… then immediately doubtful
C. Like I need more information
D. A tightness in my chest or belly
2. My most common thought is:
A. “What if I fail?”
B. “What will people think?”
C. “I’ll do it when I’m ready”
D. “This always happens to me”
3. When something goes wrong, I:
A. Shut down
B. Overthink it to death
C. Blame myself
D. React quickly, then regret it
4. Deep down, I believe:
A. I’m not quite good enough yet
B. I need to get it right
C. I don’t trust myself fully
D. Life is a bit of a struggle
Your Results
Mostly A’s → Fear & Nervous System Freeze
Mostly B’s → Overthinking & Control
Mostly C’s → Self-Trust Wound
Mostly D’s → Emotional Reactivity Pattern
Now here’s the beautiful part: None of these are permanent. They’re just patterns.
And patterns can be shifted—quickly—when you work with the body, not just the mind.
The Fast Shift: Heart + Solar Plexus Breath
This is one of my favourites because it works on both emotion and intuition at the same time. And honestly? You can feel a shift in under 4 minutes.
Why the Heart?
The heart is where we store unprocessed emotion. Grief, hurt, disappointment, resentment… it all sits there like old letters we never opened. When your heart is tight, life feels heavy. You interpret everything through that emotional backlog.
Why the Solar Plexus?
The solar plexus is your inner compass. Your intuition. Your gut knowing. Your quiet “this feels right” or “nope, not for me.” When it’s blocked, you second-guess yourself. You look outside for answers you already have inside.
Why This Combination Is So Powerful
When you breathe into both:
The heart softens (emotion releases)
The solar plexus activates (clarity returns)
So instead of reacting from old emotion…you start responding from inner knowing.
That’s the shift. That’s how you get unstuck.
Your 4-Minute Breathwork Reset (Do This With Me)
You can sit, lie down, or lean against the kitchen bench (real life, I get it).
Step 1: Hands Placement
One hand on your heart
One hand on your upper belly (solar plexus)
Step 2: The Breath Pattern
Inhale through your nose for 4
Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6
Step 3: The Focus
As you breathe in: “I’m allowing”
As you breathe out: “I’m releasing”
Step 4: The Awareness Shift
Bring your attention to:
The rise of your chest (heart softening)
The gentle expansion of your belly (intuition waking up)
If emotion comes up—good. If nothing happens—also good. You’re not forcing a breakthrough. You’re creating space for one.
Do this for 4 minutes. That’s it. Not 40. Not some elaborate ritual.
Just 4 minutes of breathing with intention.
Why This Actually Works
The longer exhale (6) tells your nervous system: “We’re safe.” That alone reduces reactivity.
At the same time:
The heart focus helps release stored emotional tension
The solar plexus focus reconnects you to your inner guidance
So instead of looping the same reaction You create a pause. And in that pause?
Choice.
The Truth No One Tells You About Being “Stuck”
You don’t need to overhaul your life. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to:
Notice your pattern
Step into the observer
Regulate your body
Listen to your inner cues
That’s it. Simple. Not always easy. But very, very effective.
A Little Nudge From Me to You
Next time you feel stuck… Don’t try to fix your whole life. Just pause and ask: “Am I reacting… or observing?”
Then take 4 minutes to breathe.
Because sometimes the door you’ve been banging on… opens the moment you stop pushing and start listening.
If you’re ready to go deeper into this work, this is exactly what we uncover together in my sessions—what your body is holding onto, and how to gently release it so you can move forward with clarity (and a lot less emotional chaos). And trust me…life feels very different when you’re no longer stuck in the same old story.
